Welcome to Almaty! Dad and I made it Almaty after about 20 hours or so of flight time. Tired and more than a little confused we found Kostye and Sasha at the airport. The two drivers took Dad, me and the other adoptive parent to our respective apartments. Kostye is our driver and he's fantastic! Not much English but a heart of gold and a ready smile.

Six hours in Frankfurt was a bit too much. Both Dad and I were ready to just get on a plane and go somewhere by the time the first couple of hours were up. We learned not to buy coffee at the Frankfurt airport (unless you're really desperate) and there's a casino there where I won 62.50 Euros. Not sure how much that is in dollars but it's more than I started with :)

We're still trying to figure out the time zone. It seems I was an hour off and it's only 12 hours different than Central Time. Maybe it's because we went back to Standard Time.

I think Dad and I got the Almaty Ritz for our apartment.

This is the view from the living room.

We do have some kind of noisy neighbors, though. There's some construction going on outside the window.
This is our view :)

Not sure what this thing is but people are going inside it!

And this is the early morning construction crew.

I have my meeting with Gulbanu this afternoon then tomorrow it's off to find my little girl! WooHoo!
