From the US to Kazakhstan and Back

Call Me Mommy!!! It's all over but the shouting now. This morning the judge officially declared me Sasha's Mommy, forever.

I, of course, wrote a wonderful blog which then disappeared in a severe IE GPF but I wanted to share the good news with everyone.

We'll go to the babyhouse to pick up Sasha this afternoon, then off to the apartments to pick up the luggage, then onto a plane to Almaty and the final week in Kazakhstan. I think I'm going to miss Uralsk but I'm going to be really happy to see my dryer again :)

A few things I've learned in Uralsk:

No matter how we dress or act, everyone knows we're Americans.
You can buy CDs at the bakery, playing cards (though only half a deck) at the shoe store, and groceries at the travel agent.
It's okay to drive down the dotted white line. Everyone will get out of your way.
AT&T makes the best phone cards. Sam's has the cheapest rates.
Smiles are universal. Even if you don't speak the language, a smile is always understood.
and last, Don't ask what kind of meat you're eating unless you're prepared for an answer you didn't expect :)

I was going to post a picture but I think this computer has a defective floppy drive and it's corrupted my diskette. I don't want to chance anything else going wrong with my precious pictures so you'll just have to picture that beautiful little face in your mind as I introduce my new daughter, Jaime Kristine Schultz.

I wish I could express how great this feels.

Stand by for future blogs from Almaty (if Jaime/Sasha will allow it.)
